Our Values

Stone Soup is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, founded as a community-serving theatrical guild.

Stone Soup Theatre Co (SSTC) is a non-profit theatre company in Durham and Chapel Hill, NC. Dedicated to supporting local artists and creating inclusive community-based performances, we offer a range of plays, musicals, and pre-professional training programs.

From our founding, we have held to the following essential values as guiding principles.

Community

We believe in being part of, and serving, our local community first.

Stone Soup provides blocks of tickets and class scholarships each year for distribution to young people and their families in underserved communities.

Safety

We believe that every artist deserves to work in a safe environment.

Stone Soup has adopted the Chicago Theatre Standards as a road map to guide operational policies and procedures.

Inclusivity

We believe the performing arts should be accessible to everyone.

We fully support non-traditional casting, and welcome all to participate in the creative process.

Responsibility

We are committed to running a fiscally responsible organization focused on long-term growth.

We believe that professional (and semi-professional) artists deserve to be compensated for their work.
We will never require artists to pay in order to perform or participate.
